Blonde timbers are highly popular in home and office renovations where lighting is minimal. Blackbutt
Approved by the Building Commission in Victoria for home construction in bushfire areas, this has a Janka Hardness Rating of 9.1. Grown in the Northern NSW, this blonde timber has a colour range from golden yellow to pale brown, with a tinge of faun/pink from time to time. Coastal Blackbutt hardwoods have fairly straight grain lines and are ideal for interior applications.
New England Oak
New England Oak is a blonde timber with a Janka Hardness Rating of 6. It is a very light contemporary coloured timber with variable grain and even medium texture. Grown in coastal ranges and tablelands in the Northern NSW region, it is a very light blonde colour with hues ranging from pink to pale yellow. New England Oak gives a unique, distinctive look for any interior space.
Australian Beech
Australian beech blend is a mixture of messmate, New England Blackbutt and Stringy Bark species with an average Janka hardness rating of 7.5. This blonde blend ranges from pale brown with golden hue accents to a light cream with pink accents.
Messmate
Predominately sourced from the tablelands of the Great Dividing Range and Southern Queensland, this blonde timber works perfectly for a variety of applications. With a Janka Hardness Rating of 7.1, the colour ranges from pale blondes to cool yellows with a touch of peach throughout. It has a beautiful grain detail and is well-known for it's gum veins.
Stringy Bark
Though this blonde timber has a questionable name, this is a beautiful hardwood option with large gum veins and bug holes that work great for interlocking designs. It has a Janka Hardness Rating of 8.1 and comes in a variety of colours from light brown to pale pink or yellow to brown with some soft accents. Most of these blonde timbers are sourced from the coast and tablelands of NSW and reaching up to Cooktown.
Tasmanian Oak
Tasmanian Oak is a very blonde timber with a clear grain, light and airy colour and can also have a slightly pink hue. It is sourced from trees in the mountains of Tasmania, Victoria and South East NSW. With a Janka Hardness Rating of 5.5 it is fairly soft and easy to dent or leave impressions. Colours for this blonde timber range from light blondes and browns to soft creams and pinks.
Northern Chestnut Blend
Northern Chestnut is the new Pentarch Forestry (ex Boral Timber Division) name for Australian Beech. For those looking for a great mixture of multiple Stringy Bark Species and Messmate, look no further. This blonde timber is sourced from the highlands of NSW and has a Janka Hardness Rating of 8. The grain is wide, giving off a beautiful look in large flooring applications. Northern Chestnut Blend timbers have a colour range between golden yellow to husk brown with soft cream accents throughout.
