Red Mahogany

If you want a durable and bold red timber, the Red Mahogany species is a great choice. With a Janka Hardness Rating of 12, there aren’t many red timbers that can match up while still holding such a beautiful colour palette. While the colour range is not that great, it’s the depth of the colour matched with the light grain and small streaks that make this such a beautiful hardwood. This species works great for large rooms and specialised flooring patterns.

Red Ironbark

While it is tough, it still has a gorgeous colour palette with colours ranging from deep reds to browns with the sapwood variant showing pale yellows throughout. The Red Ironbark species can be found in Victoria, to the western slopes of NSW and in Southern Queensland.
